About the Captain
Jim Cutler is a retired entrepreneur and business owner who has worked in various industries including automotive, entertainment, solar and software development. In 2004 he formed Coviant Software a successful encryption software development company serving fortune 500 healthcare corporations across the US.
An active outdoor adventurer Jim has engaged in winter mountaineering in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, long considered to be the worlds most dangerous climbing region due to its rapid weather changes. Having climbed these mountains many times with his 3 sons has used that beautiful resource to teach leadership to young men and women; an experience he considers his most valuable.
When he was not holding steady against 100 mph winds above treeline he was steady at the helm of many sailing vessels he has piloted since the age of nine. Having lost his father at a young age he was taught to climb and sail by his grandfather. "Climbing and sailing were gifts that have affected me my entire life. I learned more about myself and the world around me by engaging in those two activities than anything else I have done."
Above all else Jim is a consummate learner using his innate curiosity to discover all he can about the physical world as well as subjects that delve in to the esoteric and metaphysical. Through decades of research Jim has become well versed in subjects such as electromagnetism, electric universe theory and more. "Our world is much more interesting and beautiful than you can imagine."
Jim now lives aboard on his classic 1980 Pearson 424 Sloop "Aethereal Sea" that he has converted from diesel to electric propulsion. Whether under way or on the hook Jim spends his time recording videos, helping other sailors to convert their own vessels to electric and living the dream.
